It wasn’t all too often when Dakota found herself being a friend to someone who wasn’t like her. Someone ‘like her’ meaning mainly someone who didn’t party. Because that was what Dakota practically did for a living. Hell, she’d never had a real job before, and was liking that. Partying and guys were her job. If you asked her, she would easily tell you that without a problem. No, she wouldn’t be ashamed. She loved her life. She loved having rich parents and she loved doing what she wanted, when she wanted. It was how she had always grown up and if it somehow changed … well, Dakota didn’t think she would be able to cope with that very well. Dakota was a creature of habit when it came to her lifestyle. Well, in some senses of the word. Meaning that she continued to go out almost every night after all these years. But on the other hand, it was almost always with different people, and she sure as hell didn’t flirt with the same guy too often. It never hurt her to see a guy she’d made out with hanging on another girl drunk. She could care less. By then she’d come to a better guy anyway.
If you really thought about it, Dakota’s life was rather shallow. Really, partying every night? And the fact that that was enough for her? Really. Dakota had never had or felt any inclination to change how she was, ever. She liked where she was. Even if she didn’t really have the best reputation, but that didn’t matter. The people that liked her and hung out with her were enough, that was for sure. When you were as comfortable with how things were going as Dakota was, well, you didn’t care all too much about any of that. The reputation she had told and showed everyone that she was fun and knew how to have a good time, which was true to her. So really, how could she complain? This was the way she wanted to be known, and she was getting her wish. Smiling a bit, Dakota looked over at Delaney, the girl that she’d brought to the zoo. She was new to town and probably didn’t know about the big reputation that Dakota had earned for herself. Dakota had been showing her around town so far, and really, they were getting along fairly well.
With a smile, Dakota paid easily for both of their admittance. Maybe that made it look like sort of a date to some, but it wasn’t and didn’t. Anyone who had even heard of Dakota knew she was far from … well, swinging that way. There we go again, back to how much she liked her current predicament(s) and where she was. But whatever. Dakota looked over at Delaney. “Well, this here … is the Milwaukee Zoo,” she said, and laughed a bit. Wow, she sounded like a dork. “I got to go underground here by the big birds once because I was with a friend and her cousin works here. It was pretty sweet. I don’t think we could manage that today, though.” Well, really, who knew? It could happen if Dakota saw the right people. Which was, well, actually not all that unlikely. Dakota got around, no matter how you wanted to interpret the meaning of that. She had connections, let’s just say. Not feeling awkward at all about being with a girl like this at the zoo, she turned to face her. “Anywhere in particular you want to hit up first?” Damn, how she wished she was at a club. This would do for now, though.
