YOU'RE ALWAYS IN MY HEART , YOU'RE ALWAYS ON MY MIND. BUT WHEN IT ALL BECOMES TOO MUCH, YOUR NEVER FAR BEHIND . he asked as politely as he could muster, but this man was bringing his mood down, something that didn't happen very much. the man sighed and shook his head no. "sorry sir, but that woman that just left got the last copy. better luck next time" he said, turning his back to him and walking back to where he had been before he had been interrupted. dakota's eye twitched a little as he turned and left the store, forgetting once again that the door's weren't automatic. he took in deep breaths to calm himself. he had been so damned close to that movie that he could practically reach out and grab it. he cursed his luck and his timing and as he pulled into a sonic and stopped. he hadn't had ice cream in forever and he had a sudden craving for it. he pressed the button when he decided on what he wanted and waited for someone to pick up. "hello, welcome to sonic, how may i take your order?" came a a soft, female voice from the other end. he cleared his throat before answering her. "hi, can i have a large, sonic oreo blast please?" he asked, pulling his wallet out from his back pocket. he heard a laugh and heard her say yes and that it would be four fifty and that she would be right out. he tapped the steering wheel with his finger as he waited. the speakers on his car thudded loudly as the music flowed out, but he wasn't thinking about it, he could barely hear it. his mind was elsewhere. the only thing that snapped him out of his trance was the woman poking his shoulder. he smiled and apologized as he gave her her money and a tip before she left. he laughed and turned the napkin over. on one side it had her number and her name under it. jessica. that was a cool name, but very over-used. he finished his ice cream as quick as possible seeing as it was melting every where. he threw the rest away in the trash can next to his car and left the sonic, still laughing. dakota sighed as he finally pulled into to his houses long drive way. he never thought he would have been so happy to be home in his entire life. being the first one up, he hadn't gotten the chance to even say hi to anyone, let alone see their faces. dakota was the type that had to be social and talk to people constantly, even if it was just texting. he wasn't good with being alone, not since his brother had died. he kept thinking about ti over and over again. he knew that things happened and you just had to move on with your life and be happy, but this was different. colton had been his twin brother, they had been in the womb together and he had been his best friend. that was just something you just never got over, no matter how much you wanted to. he took in a deep breath and forced back the tears. if someone was awake. he definitely didn't want them to see him crying. besides, crying was for unhappy people, and he was happy. he quickly and quietly pulled into the garage and slid out of his car so he didn't wake anyone up. sure, he didn't want to be alone, but everyone needed their sleep, despite what he wanted. he didn't like being selfish and needed, even if he was. he threw his keys into the air and caught them as they slowly fell back down to the ground. he unlocked the door and closed it quietly. he unzipped his jacket and threw it over the back of a chair as he made his way to the kitchen. the ice cream hadn't helped much and he was still hungry. he looked through the refrigerator and found nothing. he was going to have to go get food tomorrow or else, they would all starve to death. sometimes he wondered if his parents were even on earth. from the way they overlooked everything, they could have had their brains cut out for he knew. he grumbled silently about not having food as he collapsed onto the couch and reached for the remote. it was late, maybe eleven thirty or so. but it didn't really matter. he was an insomniac, so he usually stayed up later than this. he wondered if the movie he had been wanting would be on paper view. sure, it wasn't the same, but it would do. the things i thought you'd never know about me WERE THE THINGS I GUESS YOU ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If there was one thing that Grace loved more then the bright shining sun during the day, it would be the stars and the sparkling moon at night. Something about nighttime was always so calming and soothing to her. From her bedroom windows she could usually see the moon, especially when it was full. It would sparkle right in, capturing her attention for what seemed like forever. The way it lit up the room with it's silvery light never failed to amaze her. Once, when she was ten, her and her dad stayed up really late to look at the stars. Well, it seemed really late back then, but probably was considered early these days. They hadn't been able to ever afford a telescope, so they just laid out on the backyard grass to see them. They hadn't been too close to the city, so it made seeing them possible. Ever since Grace had loved the night, it made her feel close to her dad. To both her parents really. It had clearly been a bonding thing between her and her dad, but that wasn't the only reason she felt close to them at night, though she couldn't exactly put her finger on it.
After spending the day with Delaney while Dakota had been at soccer, she was now sitting in her bedroom by herself, a hot chocolate held in hand. It was warmy and creamy, topped with marshmellows. Sure it wasn't her usually healthy drink, but it was a treat, a break from tea. Not that she didn't love tea, because she really did. But it was nice to have something different. Legs hung over the side of her arm chair, she was leaned back, looking out the open window at the sky. Grace could sit forever there, thinking. Longing too. She often thought about her parents. About Colton. About how she didn't want anyone else in her life to leave her, ever again. Her mind wandered briefly to Dakota. That was a whole other matter in itself, which she didn't feel like thinking about. Sometimes when she thought about it, it made her extremely sad. NOt something she was really up for. Her mind drifted back and forth between other thoughts before she heard the door downstairs. Frowning, her brown eyes darted towards the clock on the opposite wall of her room. It was almost eleven thirty now, Anna and Richard were in bed. After setting her mug down on the end table, she swung her legs around the arm of the chair, throwing off the blanket she had been hugging around her shoulders. The air of September was crisp on her dewy fair skin as she moved across her room to open the bedroom door and look out. There was only one person it could be, and that was Dakota. Besides being her best friend, Dakota was the guy Grace was head over heels in love with. Also the guy she lived with, since the Jacobs took her in seven years ago.
Deciding to go down, she took the stairs right into the living room where he had laid himself out on the couch. Grace had managed to sneak down quietly, without him turning around. From where she stood behind the couch, she watched as he flicked the remote around to pay-per-view. She knew Kota didn't sleep well at night, so he must be putting on a movie. She couldn't help but smile. Dakota had always made her smile, even before she realized how she truly felt about the guy. That's what best friends were for, right? Leaning on the top of the couch, she rested her head in her hands, and elbows on the sofa. "You're home late," she pointed out, having remained unnoticed until that point. Her messy blonde hair was tied up in a sloppy bun off her neck, some make-up still intact from the day. Though Grace wasn't one for much make-up anyways, and she didn't really care how Dakota saw her. He'd seen her through a lot worse. Like the time she was fifteen and had the flu. She was puking her guts up everywhere and was sick in bed for a whole weekend and then some. Or the time she had fallen fast first into the front yard during a rain storm, getting completely drenched in mud. That one had been stupid. She had tried to jump off the porch to run faster to the car. Anna, Richard and Dakota were already waiting inside. Grace, a normally graceful person ironically enough, had hit the mud and went to sprint, but her foot had other plans as it slipped back from under her, sending her flying. Dakota hadn't stopped laughing for hours after that one, last year. This was nothing compared to those times. Even so, she was comfortable around Dakota. So none of that really mattered. She had ended up laughing along with him after falling in the mud and she knew everyone had to get sick at some point.
Her deep brown eyes drifted down from the television screen to where his head was, eyes searching for his. Would he be surprised at her sudden appearance, would it shock him at all? Or would he be able to play it cool? There was also, of course, the option that he had already heard her coming, though her petite frame and carefully graceful steps would make that option a surprising one. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - STATUS ?! it tis complete.
