HOW DO YOU LEAVE THE PAST BEHIND WHEN IT KEEPS finding ways to get to your heart ?
» Holy shit. That was all Jaeda could think. The hospital had been sucking up her entire life for all of the couple months that she lived in Milwaukee. Hell, she'd been practically living in the hospital- thank God for on-call rooms and a cafeteria that served half-decent food. She had actually slept in her own bed a total of maybe three times since she'd moved in. Good thing she had no pets- otherwise, they would all be dead by now. She knew this would happen, though. Hopefully, things would calm down soon....ish. She knew she would never really have a long period of time where she could just hole up in her apartment and relax. No, life was all about the hospital now, trolling the ER and offering her expertise whenever and for whomever needed. She regretted nothing. The medical profession had done so much for her- after all, she was still alive, wasn't she?- and it was only right that she, with her natural ability for medicine, should give back, so to speak. In retrospect, maybe her specialty should have been oncology. But then again, she knew it could never be. She was working too hard to keep her lifelong battle with leukemia a secret, and with her luck she'd be forced to spill the beans when a patient accused her of not knowing how much chemo sucked. Oh, she knew, damn it...
» So that left her with the issue of what the hell to do with her day. Actually, it was two days- today and tomorrow- that she had off, to do with whatever she pleased. It was a good feeling at first. But then she got bored. She was so used to the fast-paced chaos in the ER that sitting alone in her apartment just felt... weird. So she tried watching TV, thinking that maybe hearing the characters' voices would make her feel more comfortable, and even found a channel showing ER reruns. It only worked for a couple minutes, until the storyline drifted to the characters' personal lives, and then Jaeda was bored again. So she gave up and, noticing that it was around noon, figured she'd go out and try to accomplish something useful with her day, not that there was really anything to do. She got up off the couch, took a shower, and put on a bunch of random clothes, which somehow managed to go fairly well together. Was it fate, perhaps? Either way, she didn't put much thought into her attire, except to grab and put on a hoodie, just in case it was cold out or something.
» The trip from her apartment building to the mall wasn't a long one. Actually, it was relatively short, considering how fast she drove. School was back in session, so there weren't any teens out, and their parents were probably all working. This thought made her feel kind of like a bum- until she remembered how much she worked, and then started to appreciate her day off just a little bit more. The parking lot at said mall wasn't as packed as it could have been, and Jaeda found a parking spot just a short walk from the entrance. Lucky her, right? She got out and pressed the "lock" button on her key chain until the Jeep Cherokee chirped. Then she headed inside. While outside had been a bit chilly, inside it was kind of hot. She ignored it at first, walking through the food court, past a bunch of people she didn't recognize- though a few she probably could have recognized if she had taken the time to really look at them, instead of ignoring the general population. As she stepped onto an escalator, though, she was feeling uncomfortable, temperature-wise, and carefully slid her hoodie off over her head, feeling much better in the strapless top she had on underneath. She stuffed the hoodie into her striped drawstring bag and pulled it closed, slipping her arms through the strings once again when she was finished. What she failed to notice, though, was the rather sizable bruise on her back, across the shoulder blades.
it reaches way down deep and TEARS YOU INSIDE-OUT 'TIL YOU'RE TORN APART !

i don't care if monday's blue, T U E S D A Y ' S G R E Y A N D W E S N E S D A Y T O O Running his own company was a lot of work. More likely then not, he'd always be needed in the building each day, especially since the Milwaukee branch was still relatively new. Umbrah Games had been a hit in New York City, where Duncan Scott had first let the world in on his ideas. Creating and selling video games was something he did quite well. The guy was quite brilliant, so it didn't come as a surprise to many that he ran the business himself. Within a year, Umbrah Games was a hit in New York, though not many other people outside of the State knew of it. That's why after eight years of living in New York City, Duncan moved back to his hometown of Milwaukee to start a new branch. Well, that wasn't the only reason, but it was the major one. Six months ago he moved back home and started up his company again. Now the company was doing quite well in Milwaukee and back in New York as well. Duncan was making a ton of cash, but that's not why he was in this business. He simply enjoyed it. He loved playing video games and loved making them. He wanted other to be able to experience what he imagined in his mind. Of course, he didn't personally create each one, but most of the time he came out with the basic plot for each game. So all in all, Umbrah kept him on his feet at all times, whether it be going into work in Milwaukee or making business calls back to NYC, Duncan rarely saw a free day.
That day was no different. He was working in his office, going over business deals and transactions, looking over the process of the latest game in development. Keeping busy, as usual. But it was lunch, and Duncan didn't need a clock to tell him that. His stomach was grumbling quite loudly to notify him. Frowning, he glanced over at the clock just to be certain of the time. About noon. Pushing off his desk, he let the chair slide out and spin to the side so he could get out. Standing, he straightened himself up a bit and moved out of his office, grabbing the wool coat from the hook as he did. His assistant's desk was outside his door and he made his way over. "I'm taking off for lunch," he informed her with a smile. She nodded and he asked her if she wanted anything. After recieving her answer of no, he entered the elevator and took it down to floor level where he walked out and exited the building. Pulling his car keys from his pocket, he unlocked the BMW with a click of the button and hopped in. While Duncan wasn't a really showy kind of guy and would rather go unnoticed, he did take pride in his car.
The mall wasn't far from his work in the downtown area. It was mid day and most people were at work, while students were at school. It wasn't too much trouble finding a close parking space. With his Blackberry and wallet stuffed into his pockets, Duncan was set to head into the mall. The car locked with a click of the button after he had exited, simple as that. The air outside was chilly and he was glad he had grabbed his jacket before coming. It was warm around him, though he could still feel the chill of the autumn air. It was much better when he entered the mall, so he undid the buttons while leaving the coat on.
Malls weren't exactly Duncan's thing. No, far opposite. Malls weren't his thing at all. Too many people, too much hassle. Crowds were something he didn't do too well. Surprisingly enough, he could wait in line for a video game with a million other people and be fine. When it was something like a mall or concert, he could barely cope. Thankfully though, the mall was quite empty that day. There were a few older couples sitting in the food court, some people his age as well. No one he recgonized. He quietly got in line for Subway, figuring it was his best bet. It had been awhile since he had a sub anyways. When it came his time to order, he asked for a Mix with a bunch of different toppings. They wrapped it up and he took it with him in a plastic bag, already deciding not to eat it just yet. He wanted to look for a new copy of the newest Halo, since his dog Chewwie had gotten a hold of his. Duncan hadn't been to happy about that. Ironic though. His dog was named after Chewbacca in Star Wars, but it just so happened that Chewwie did like to chew things. Taking the escelator he headed upstairs. At the top of the moving staircase he spotted somone familiar. "Jaeda?" he called out, trying to catch her attention. [/blockquote] LOOKS LIKE; click moi.LISTENING TOO; turn right - jonas brothers.
